Hills District Taekwondo November Dan Grading
The second Hills District Taekwondo Dan Grading was held on Sunday 6th November. Ten of our Black Belts took the test to advance to the next level and all put in an impressive performance. The students in attendance were Bill Vargas, Shannen Toby, Lisa Rossi, Stacey Taylor, Nadia Rossi, Luke Rossi, Kara Jarman, Dylan Foster, Ryan Toby and Damien Briggs.
Hills District Taekwondo October Grading Week
Grading Week was once again a complete success for all involved. Throughout the week more than 150 students progressed to the next level marking one of the largest Hills District Taekwondo Grading Weeks of all time. Everyone should be proud of their achievement and preparing themselves for an even more impressive performance at the next Grading!

August Haidong Gumdo Grading
The grading was presided over by Master Sam and Grandmaster Jung Il Oh, who was once again impressed by everyone’s improvement and skill.
For the first time Paper Cutting was incorporated into the grading exam, but living up to their reputation, the Hills Haidong Gumdo class executed their technique flawlessly.
Student of the Month :
Every month we have been acknowledging a student who has given their best efforts and shown good etiquette, commitment, dedication and behaviour.
Monthly winners have their name displayed on the Student of the Month plaque and are given a small prize as a reward.
Newcastle Hunter Open Competition
Thirty five members of our club attended the Newcastle Hunter Open Championship on Sunday 1st April. This marked the first competition experience for several of our players and a successful return for more experienced players. Our competitors took part in Free Sparring, Individual Poomsae, Creative Poomsae, Team Poomsae, Jump Kick and Individual Technical Breaking.

2012 Autumn Open
Our State, National and International sparring competitors have been given the opportunity to train with one of Australia's most prominent biomechanic specialists, Dr. Raul Landeo. Dr Landeo has three degrees in biomechanics and sports science and researches and publishes widely on taekwondo techniques.

On November 19th, Hills District Taekwondo hosted an inter-club championship at our dojang. The competition marked the first time many of our members competed against a student from another school and they all performed at a level that made their instructors proud.

2011 Haidong Gumdo Australian National Championships
For the second year in a row Hills District Haidong Gumdo sent an elite team of athletes to represent our club and state in the Haidong Gumdo Australian National Championships. A high level event attended by many of Australia’s best Haidong Gumdo athletes.

Seminar with Grandmaster Richard Bustillo
Hills District Martial Arts was honoured to host a Martial Arts Legend at our Dojang on the 23rd of January. Grandmaster Richard Bustillo, a first generation student of Bruce Lee himself attended our school to give some of our students a special seminar in both Jeet Kune Do (Bruce Lee's very own creation) and Kali/Eskrima/Arnis.
