BLACK BELT PROMOTION INFORMATION

Earning your Black Belt is the first step on your BEYOND BLACK BELT JOURNEY. Once you have earned your 1st Dan or Poom belt, more training is required than at the colour belt level to progress to the next level.

Our philosophy at HDMA is that Black Belts should train to improve, rather than training solely for Gradings, however setting goals is an important part of fruitful training. See below for some guidelines regarding your future training and Gradings!

Well done on passing your Grading! This is definitely a time to celebrate and be proud!

Your New Syllabus

Check your Syllabus online. This will help you keep track of your progress and give you some idea of what your next Belt Promotion will look like.

Time to Train!

Keep working hard in class to improve your skills and learn/perfect your new syllabus! REMEMBER you must record your attendance when you come to class! As a Black Belt, this is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!

Receive Your Pre-Grading Checklist

Once you have completed the Training Time and Class Attendance requirements, you will receive your Pre-Grading Checklist via email. When you are comfortable with all items on the list, please submit this form to your Instructors for them to check you in class. Check your syllabus for information on Attendance and Training Time Requirements!

Receive your Black Belt Application

Once your Instructors have completed your Pre-Grading Checklist, they will return it to you with your Grading Application!

Return your Completed Application

Return your Application fully filled in, with all necessary fees, essays and other requirements. This must be submitted AT MINIMUM two weeks prior to Belt Promotion Week.

Attend Your Next Available Grading!

Congratulations! It's now time for you to attend your next Grading! Do your best!

Pre-Check Timeline

5 Weeks Prior

All eligible students have received their Pre-Checks via email. No further checks will be sent.

3 Weeks Prior

All Pre-Checks must be completed and returned to students. No further checking will be conducted.

2 Weeks Prior

All forms must be submitted fully complete with all requirements. No further forms can be accepted.
