  • -Black Belt Gradings
  • -NSW State Championships
  • -Japan Open
  • -Gold Coast Open
  • -London Olympic Selections

  • -Vietnam Open
  • -Referee Seminars

  • -Taekwondo Australia National Championships
  • -Haidong Gumdo National Championships
  • -London Olympic Test Event

All these success stories would not have been possible without your commitment and dedication to training.

I would like to make a special mention to my fantastic Instructors.

  • -Miss Yokk
  • -Miss Alex
  • -Mr. Justin
  • -Mr. Jacob

Without their commitment and support none of the above would have been possible and I am looking forward to working with my Hills District Team in 2012.

Thanks to all of you fantastic parents, I won't name you, you all know who you are, you have all given your time and energy in assisting Hills District Martial Arts at all levels.

Special thank you to;

  • -Tracey Campbell for her expertise and skill in putting together our newsletter, the 'Sports Talk'.
  • -Matt Hopkinson, Photographer Extraordinaire.

We will be closed from 22nd December and re-opening 9th January 2012.

We would like to wish you all a very MERRY and SAFE Christmas and a HAPPY and HEALTHY New Year.

Magee-A-Thon

London Olympic Games Test Event

To the Hills District Taekwondo Family,

Michael Magee has been selected for the Australian National Taekwondo Team for the London Olympic Games test event which will be held at the ExCel Center in London on the 3-4 December 2011.

This is a massive honour and achievement for Michael and on his behalf we, the family of Hills District Taekwondo, will be making every effort to assist Michael in any way we can. Hills District Taekwondo has a proud history of regional, state, national and international competition. Unfortunately this does cost money and in most cases the athlete needs to make many sacrifices both physical, mental and financial.

Olympic test events are organised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and are held for each sport that will be contested at the 2012 London Olympics. The competition is a test run of the facilities and equipment for the Olympic event. It also gives a chance for athletes who will be competing at the London Olympics to compete in a high level competition in the same venue that their sport will be held in.

Michael has been selected as the Australian team member for the mens under 68kg division. As no Australian qualified for this weight division for the 2012 Olympics competing at this prestigious event is the closest any Australian in Michael's weight division can come to competing at the Olympic Games until Rio in 2016.

As with most Taekwondo events, this trip is entirely self funded. When combining flights, entry fee's, insurance and other associated costs the trip is likely to cost several thousand dollars.

As a means of fundraising for this trip on Thursday 10th of November, Michael will be starting a 48 hour self imposed food famine. 2 days without food is a hard sacrifice for any person, however the goal of this is also to raise awareness of just one of the many sacrifices that Taekwondo athletes make to compete- That being dropping weight before a competition to meet the stringent weight requirements.

If you are interested in supporting Michael in reaching his goal of competing at the Olympic Test Event, then you can sponsor him in his 48 hour hungry marathon- Any donation is greatly appreciated. To indicate your interest in sponsoring, or for more information please come and talk to Master Sam at the Dojang.

This is a great opportunity to assist one of our own.

Congratulations...
